Family Discipleship April Week 4

April 28th - May 4th

David Stands Tall

Watch the Youtube video of this week's lesson.
This weeks big truth is:
Through his anointed king, God defeats our biggest enemies.
This weeks memory verse is:
Know that the Lord saves not with sword and spear. For the battle is the Lord's.
 (1 Samuel 17:47)

Here are a few questions for your family to discuss this week based on the teaching your kids received in class on Sunday. Space these questions out throughout the week and find natural times to bring them up. Use these questions to spark conversation over dinner or on a car ride.

Question One: Two really big things happened to David in today's story. Spend some time talking about him being anointed and him slaying Goliath.

Question Two: Why did Samuel think the oldest son would be the next king? Can we tell if people love and trust God by their appearance? Who is the only one that can?

Question Three: Why were the Israelites so afraid of Goliath? Why wasn't David afraid? What kinds of things are you afraid of? This is a good opportunity to let your child know that parents have fears too.

Question Four: How was David able to defeat the mighty Goliath? How can we be more like David?

Question Five: How was Jesus an unlikely king like David? How did Jesus defeat sin, death and Satan?
